Timeless Kitchen & Furniture Ideas for 2026

Timeless Kitchen & Furniture Ideas for 2026

The most important part of designing your home is to make sure that it feels personal. Here are a few of our previous designs, which are great to use as inspiration for your own furniture or kitchen designs this year. Whether you like to keep up with the current trends, take inspiration from the past, or create something entirely unique – you will surely find something that resonates with your own personal taste.

Here are a few ideas that work with a wide variety of styles and influences…

Earthy Colours

Although Pantone’s colour of 2026 was white, we are certainly not saying goodbye to colour. While warm whites or green tinted hues can help bring a refreshing sense of serenity into a space, we find that richer earthy colours have increased in popularity in recent times. Deep greens, stony browns, lush creams, and clay reds. These colours can help bring nature indoors whilst also creating an elegant and calming atmosphere.

When paired with the right complimentary tones, these richer colours can also make the perfect feature wall or bold statement. For example, this beautiful boot room we hand-painted in a deep earthy green. The natural wood and leather seat come together with these colours to create a timeless, stylish, and stunning space with a personal touch.

This utility room perfectly showcases another beautiful example using lighter tones. In this case, the natural off-white has been paired with a darker quartz worktop to bring the whole room together – creating a room that feels, airy, refreshing, and elegant.

Multi-purpose Bespoke Furniture

Multi-purpose furniture is perfect for anywhere that is limited on space, or for if you want to use a single piece of furniture for more than one purpose. This could be anything from extending tables, hidden storage, or fold-away pieces of furniture. Choosing bespoke is the perfect (and often only) solution for those smaller, more awkward spaces, or for when you are looking for something specific that is impossible to find off-the-shelf. Right from the beginning, bespoke furniture is designed just for you.

Below is a recent project: A butterfly extending table, handmade in Cherry wood. With a sleek design, this dining table smoothly extends using a brass pivot mechanism that we designed and hand-made specifically for this piece.

Additionally, home-working has become increasingly more common. More people are looking for solutions that can provide both a designated work space whilst also allowing to keep home and professional life separate. Below is a fantastic example of this, a beautiful fold-away desk handmade in oak. With a pull-out keyboard slide, a dedicated printer drawer, and a space for the computer monitor, the bi-fold doors allow for all of this to be neatly hidden away when the work day is over.

Large Pantries and Larders

Pantries and larders are the perfect feature for any kitchen. They provide you with a designated space for all your cooking essentials. Increasingly popular for not only their practicality and organisation, they also form a point of visual interest and elegance.

When choosing bespoke you can opt for all kinds of interior details in order to make the storage perfectly suited to your needs and the way you wish to use the space. For example, interior solid oak drawers, lit up shelving, spice racks on the doors, a hidden hot tap for a coffee station, and even pull-out quartz worktops like in the image below.

Using Past Inspiration

Recently there has been a surge of mid-century influences in design – from sleek forms and tapered legs to the warm natural tones of timber. However, instead of conforming rigidly to this style, often we have seen these features being merged with other styles to create something unique or more modern.

Using the natural tones of timber to incorporate a sense of nature into furniture is a timeless design choice that has been used for years. Whilst hand-painted furniture is certainly a popular and simple way to bring colour to a room, the natural grain of different timbers can add a textural and visual interest that can help accentuate and bring together these painted colours. It is the timelessness of these particular features (whether they come from the 70s, the Victorian era, or even the Gothic) that give us the freedom to be inspired and create a space that not only won’t go out of style, but is also full of character and personality.

Below you can see how we took inspiration from the mid-century era to design this stunning side-board. The solid teak top, unique handle details, and overall sleek appearance are all reminiscent of the 70’s. We have then combined this with a more modern deep-blue painted finished to perfectly complement the warmth of the chosen timbers.

The second picture shows a more contemporary approach. With the no-fuss cabinetry, sleek handles, and overall little detail, these choices offer a more minimalistic and modern aesthetic. However, when combined with the natural warmth that comes from the oak drawer and door fronts, they ultimately come together to create a distinctively unique and stylish kitchen space.
